Beginner and advanced quilters will find this quilt addictive! Easy to make, the result is dramatic. Pinwheel Stack and WhackThe trick is in the choice of fabric. The focal fabric works best when it is loud and obnoxious. The cutting can be nerve-racking, so join us for this class and we will hold your hand through the tough part.   Layer the repeats, cut triangle shaped pieces from the same part of the repeat, and create a kaleidoscope effect that is irresistible! Think ‘out of the box’ and challenge yourself to buy the most obnoxious fabric available…who can resist a challenge like that??

This quilt gives the impression of a color wash with the simplest of piecing…nothing but Blooming Nine Patch9-patches and squares.  On the cover of the book Traditions with a Twist, it is shown in wild floral fabrics.  Our model is done in black and white.  Our students have done Christmas, monochromatic, and many other fabric groupings, all with fabulous results.   We have simplified the building process to eliminate laying out the many squares and prevent sewing something in the wrong place.

Many of you have been asking for a paper piecing class, and this dynamic quilt is a great one on Fireworkswhich to learn paper piecing.  The angles look complicated, but using a paper foundation is the key to success!  Paper piecing produces a fantastic finished piece where all the angles are PERFECT.  Some pre cutting is preferred, so we can jump right in and get started with creating our blocks.

While the Log Cabin block is an ancient design, it is still attractive.  There are dozens of ways to Paper Pieced Log Cabinarrange the blocks to make each quilt look unique.  There are also several ways that you can put this quilt together.  One way is to use paper piecing. The advantage of this method is that you will have amazingly accurate blocks, allowing for each ‘log’ to be thinner, and therefore more appealing.  You can play with borders as well.  In this class, we will cover the staggered star border, which adds a great deal of charm to the quilt.  I love this quilt; it’s absolutely my favorite pattern!

After asking for feedback, I noticed that one thing people need most for classes is TIME.  I Project Classdeveloped a class that will last 4 consecutive weeks. You can use the class to work on any project that you would like.  Maybe you would like to start something new, or you are stuck on a project and need some help getting it done.  Maybe you like one of the classes on this list but it is not offered at a time that you are available.  Perhaps what you need is a structured time that is set aside to have a little sew-a-thon.  Sitting with like minded people at a table, all working on something creative helps me get some things accomplished!  I will offer this project class four times, meeting once a week for four weeks.  You can sign up for one session, or more if you think you need (or want) the extra work time.
