Do you have a favorite color? Here is an opportunity for you to work with all the values of your favorite color, Peach? Strawberry? Lime? Blackberry? Grape? You choose as you work with light, medium and dark values of your favorite fruit color. And you do not have to use all three values, just one color and at least two different values (mostly medium and dark) of the chosen color. Don’t worry if your blues (or chosen color) don’t match. Remember all blueberries do not match! Use fabrics from your scrap bin, from your stash and yardage from your fabric store and basic construction techniques to make a quilt that looks much more difficult than it is.

This pattern is much simpler than it looks – it is actually made from simple 9-patch blocks that are cut with the X-Block ruler and then sewn together. The cut-off pieces become the borders. Try it with a scrappy look like the floral sample, or in a more controlled palette. This is a great technique and you will be surprised at how simple it really is.
