The double wedding ring, with its curved piecing and intricate cutting has proved too frustrating for many quilters but the Quicksmart method can provide both novices and experts with an easier, less aggravating, less exacting method to achieve a beautiful result.  The quick smart way uses printed fusible interfacing to eliminate curved piecing.  Best of all, to make one of these prized quilts is an attainable goal.
Please note this is a two week course.

Variations of the Mariner’s Compass block have been around for centuries, but most people would avoid it due to its complex nature.   Since Paper Piecing has become more popular, some of these more difficult quilt patterns have been revised and have become much more user friendly!  Build this beautiful, appealing quilt by creating sections, then combining the sections together.  Some paper piecing experience is necessary.

This Jacob’s Ladder variation looks great in a three fabric scheme or more scrappy,   using 10-15 fabrics.    The blocks are very easy to assemble, and the pieced border adds an intriguing design element. There are a lot of pieces in this quilt and the model is quilt large, but it’s beautiful enough to be worth the work!

This is a method class to teach you how to do the quilting on your home machine.  You need a reliable machine
with a walking foot and a darning foot that are made for it (the generic ones tend not to work very well).  We do a LOT of talking about the “how’s” and then play with a practice piece that is included in the class price.  This is definitely a ‘must’ class.  You’ll definitely get some tips that will make your job easier, making the cost of the class worthwhile!
Note: Kit Included

Join us for a purse class that uses that fabric, you know, the one that is too pretty to cut up. The ‘crazy patch’ border is made out of some coordinating fabrics to the main focus fabric, and gives an opportunity to use a few rarely used decorative stitches on your machine. This bag is roomy enough for every-day use, and looks great in elegant fabric choices, as well as novelty or seasonal motifs.    Beginner to intermediate level sewers can be successful making this project.

While bored at a slow quilt show, I stumbled upon this wonderful pattern in the back of an old book that wouldn’t sell.  The play of the direction with the dark and light intrigued me, so I started making triangles.  There are a lot of triangles in this quilt!  Pick your favorite method (we will be discussing several ways to make triangles in this class, but basically, it’s up to the sewer which way is best for her to proceed) and we will start building this wonderfully visual quilt.

This class is for those of you who like to watch the secondary pattern unfold. This pattern is ideal for any of your jellyrolls, as it is strip pieced and way easier than it looks. This pattern is a great way to learn how to use your “companion angle” ruler. Beginners and old pros will enjoy the dynamic result.

Even though this quilt gives the appearance of circles, there are only straight seams!  Although it is complex and a lot of work, this beautiful quilt is going to be everyone’s favorite! The example has 18 dark fabrics and 12 light fabrics, although this quilt would looks equally well in as few as two fabrics.  Several ways of getting through the ‘triangle in a square’ units will be discussed.
