The Spring Class schedule is ready!! We waited until the worst of the winter weather is over and we are running this schedule through the summer, hoping to be able to satisfy the needs of teachers, who only have the summer in which to play! We have some wonderful quilts to share with you, including a Lemoyne Star Stack and Whack, 3D Tumbling Blocks class, and the Upsey Daisy Quilt, one of my personal favorites! I am already getting to work on the fall schedule for classes too. Make sure: if you would like to be taught something you let me know and maybe I can get it on the schedule to suit your needs.

I am going to MQX in New Hampshire! I am very excited. You may remember I upgraded my longarm to a Statler Stitcher last year. I am looking forward to learning some new tricks and hints that I can make use of on my longarm. I am taking 7 classes, and can not wait! 🙂

The Clarence Quilt Show, and the Twin Cities Quilt show are both this month too. See the information listed below. The Twin Cities is at a new location, I’ve heard they will have lots more room for quilts and are expecting a wonderful show. I am vending at the Clarence show, it has always been one of my favorites, being a Clarence High School graduate. I hope to see you there!!

The Row by Row Shop Hop has been expanded and improved. This year, the dates are from June 21st through September 8th. The extended dates are to accommodate graduation traveling as well as labor day traveling. All 50 states and 6 Canadian provinces are participating this year! The theme is water/H20. Our row has been designed and made, and I have to say, I like it a lot!

Quilting Assistance

Just when you think your project is well in hand, you suddenly hit an obstacle. This obstacle could be anything from corners not being perfect to wavy borders, a binding issue, or a frantic “I lost the directions!” moment. Instead of panicking, why not call Sew What? We have a Tuesday Help Class that is only $10.00. Some people are coming in with projects they started many long years ago, and have no idea what they are supposed to do next. With a little determination, before long, these people are proudly displaying a finished project! Or if Tuesdays are not good for you, we will be happy to schedule an appointment at your convenience and help to solve the problem. Don’t hesitate to call for help if you are apprehensive about a pattern – a private class might be just what you need.

Fireworks

Teacher: Ann Shaw
When: Friday, May 15 and 22, 2015
OR
When: Wednesday, August 12 and 19, 2015
Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Cost $35.00

Many of you have been asking for a paper piecing class, and this dynamic quilt is a great one on which Fireworksto learn paper piecing. The angles look complicated, but using a paper foundation is the key to success! Paper piecing produces a fantastic finished piece where all the angles are PERFECT. Some pre cutting is preferred, so we can jump right in and get started with creating our blocks.

Machine Quilting for Beginner’s

Teacher: Ann Shaw
When: Friday May 29, 2015
OR
When: Wednesday July 22
Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Cost: $60.00

One of the more difficult parts of making a quilt is the actual quilting, the sewing together of the three Machine Quilting for Beginnerslayers. While hiring a longarm quilter to finish your project for you is nice, sometimes we want to do it ourselves. This class gives you a lot of the “how-to’s” to make your job easier to accomplish. There are hints about how to prepare, marking tools and methods, holding, folding, and stitching that you may not know but can make your job less of a hassle. We provide a practice piece for you to play with, and by the time you are done with your exercises, you will be ready to successfully machine quilt your own projects on your own home machine.
Note: Kit Included

When: Friday, June 5 and 12, 2015
Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Cost: $35.00

I saw this quilt on a blog recently and said to myself “That’s It!! That’s the one!!” I love the jaunty Upsy Daisyaspect to the flowers. It’s just seems fun! This quilt will work in any high contrast color combination, i.e.: Black and White, 1930’s, Asians, Batiks, Florals. The flowers are machine appliquéd on, so “buttonhole stitch” skills will be covered in class.
