Linda Davis still has a few spots open in her ‘Bargello Color Wheel’ class. Using rotary cutting and straight sewing you will be amazed at your final project. The only tough part is picking out your fabric colors, although we have several kits made up for your convenience. The kits are made up in rainbow colors, like the sample, or in a blue/teal/purple color scheme.  The required pattern includes a wedge ruler.

Wednesdays November 9th and 16th from 6pm – 9pm. Cost $35.

This visually pleasing quilt uses two and a half inch strips to create a dynamic color play of light and dark.  Linda is also teaching this wonderful tonal quilt.

‘Light and Shadow’ on Wednesday November 30th from 6pm – 9pm. Cost $35

Ann Shaw teaches her famous method class, Machine Quilting for Beginners. Bring your reliable sewing machine, a walking foot and the darning foot that goes with your machine, and Ann will show you the “ins” and “outs” of machine quilting. Friday November 18th 2011 10 am – 3 pm. This class is a MUST for all quilters. Cost $45

Quilter of the Month…

November’s Quilter of the month is Isabelle Banas, one of our all-time favorite customers! Isabelle’s love of quilting started with a quilting class taught by Linda Hunter in the mid ‘70’s. Isabelle and a friend took an evening quilting class at Kenmore East High School and she was immediately intrigued with the variety of patterns, fabric choices and selection of colors quilting had to offer. In the mid 1990’s Isabelle took a log cabin class here at Sew What? with Ann and was hooked absolutely loved the pattern! She made log cabin quilts over the next ten years using the paper piecing method, giving them to family and friends. Everyone loves getting one of Isabelle’s “tied” log cabin quilts. Isabelle’s quilts continue to be cherished by all those who received them. As much as Isabelle loves quilting, she has never “coaxed anyone to pursue” it.  Fortunately, Isabelle is able to share her passion for quilting with her daughter Peggy and granddaughters Danielle and Renee.

As Quilter of the Month everyone who comes into the store and the entire quilting community will have an opportunity to view your talents and see the vast array of styles, colors and techniques we have in our area. While your quilts are on display, photos are taken and a CD created to maintain a record of your exhibition. Also during the month of your exhibition, you will receive a 20% discount in the store. Any quilter at any level can participate. We love seeing other people’s work styles, and don’t worry if they are not quilted!  In fact, “tops” are easier for us to hang up!! Call the store at 632-8801 or go to www.sewwhatquiltshop.com to sign up for a future month.

Quilter’s Tip…

With the beautiful fall weather, why not take a moment to air out your quilts? If they need to be washed before you do so, not to worry, we have some great products in the shop to get your quilts looking and smelling beautiful.  ‘Orvus Quilt Soap’ is a non phosphorus product that won’t harm any fragile fabrics that may be in our quilts; it’s biodegradable and easy to use.  ‘Grandma’s Secret Spot Remover’ is an earth friendly, environmentally safe product that removes stains in a jiffy. It works so beautifully, one of our girls is buying a bottle for all her friends for Christmas!  Stop into the shop and pick them up so your quilts will look brand new!

Girl’s Night Out…

November 25, 2011 is Girl’s Night Out.  This is our tenth Anniversary of this fun monthly event!  We start around 5pm or 6pm (however it works into your schedule, its casual) and go until around 9pm. The cost is $8. Don’t forget to bring your UFO’s, orphans, and any other quilting projects you are working on and we’ll have a great night out!  All are welcome and we look forward to seeing you on November 25, 2011.
