Hi everybody!

I hope you all made it through the big snowstorm unscathed. I usually love Buffalo weather, it’s fun and exciting, but you poor people who got hit with 70” must be kinda sick of snow, and we are just hitting December! There’s a long way to go before winter is over. I got stuck at home, which is better than getting stuck away from home, but I couldn’t get into work, as every north/south road was closed. So the store was closed for a couple days, I hope we didn’t inconvenience too many of you.

I trust everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving. At this time of year I like to reflect on the things for which I should be grateful. I am grateful for many, many things, one of which is this store. I have met some wonderful people over the years and I don’t know what I would do without you all. It so much fun to help people pick out fabrics for a new quilt. I love teaching new classes and sharing new techniques with people. The multitudes of creative projects I have seen over the years is inspiring. It sparks my own creativity and gets me excited to play with my own stash. I am currently playing with a scrappy green nickel quilt to give to my nephew for his high school graduation. I’ve been making great progress on it but wish I were further so I can start the next one! Don’t you feel the same way?

We usually take inventory at the end of December, the week between Christmas and New Year. In anticipation of that, I would like to offer you a PRE-INVENTORY SALE to be held December 8-19. All books are 25% off, all notions and thread will be 20% off. We have stocked our remnant bins and have a few bolts of fabric on clearance for 50% off. Our skinny bolts have been restocked too. A skinny bolt is one that has 2-3 yards left on it (or less) and will be 25% off if you finish the bolt. The more you clear out of here, the less we have to count!!! Do your part and come help us take inventory!!

Also, Sew What will be having a big anniversary in January. We will be turning 25 years old! Be prepared to come in and help us celebrate! Next month’s newsletter will have the announcement of our Anniversary Sale. It’s a big anniversary, so it should be a big sale, don’t you agree?

Mark your calendars!! Fat Quarter Tuesday is February 17, 2015. All Fat quarters are $1.75 on that day. We will have extended hours, open from 9-7pm and there will be specials and drawings all day long.

We are starting to look at the Spring Class schedule and are looking for teachers and ideas. Is there a quilt you have been wanting to make but don’t know how? Ask us to give a class on it, and we will try to meet your needs. Or maybe you have something you have made that was a lot of fun to create. You could share it with a few others who share your passion for quilting, while making a little money on the side. Consider it!
We are desperately looking for ‘Quilter’s of the Month’ for January and March, as well as a few months later in the spring. If you’re interested in becoming a Quilter of the Month, please call the store. There are perks! You get to enjoy 20% off anything you buy, all month long, while your quilts are on the wall. You get a CD with photos of the quilts. You’d be surprised at how wonderful your work looks when on display! You probably are thinking, “I don’t have enough projects to fill that space”, but after you look around your house and borrow some back that you have given as gifts, you would be able to give a nice display. If not, consider pairing up with a friend and putting both your quilts on the walls. You will both get the discount, and both get a CD! We really appreciate the diversity that each individual has among her own projects, and the diversity of projects from month to month with different people on the walls is even more amazing.

We made up more kits for the 3D tumbling blocks quilt after selling out at Chautauqua. That class is on Mondays December 8 and 15. It’s way easier than it looks! We’d love to have you join us.

Quilting Assistance
Just when you think your project is well in hand, you suddenly hit an obstacle. This obstacle could be anything from corners not being perfect to wavy borders, a binding issue, or a frantic “I lost the directions!” moment. Instead of panicking, why not call Sew What? We have a Tuesday Help Class that is only $10.00. Some people are coming in with projects they started many long years ago, and have no idea what they are supposed to do next. With a little determination, before long, these people are proudly displaying a finished project! Or if Tuesdays are not good for you, we will be happy to schedule an appointment at your convenience and help to solve the problem. Don’t hesitate to call for help if you are apprehensive about a pattern – a private class might be just what you need.

Don’t forget if you have an event, show, or guild meeting you’d like to share with our newsletter subscribers, give us a call, or email us the details we will include it in the next newsletter. You can reach us at 632-8801 or sewwhat@sewwhat.com.
