We Are So Thankful

This month many of us reflect on the many reasons we have in our lives to give thanks. For us here at the shop, we are thankful to you, our customers. Over the years we have met many people and have made many friends. We value each and every one of you. Thank you.

We are very excited about the great fabrics that continue to arrive. The long awaited “Snowy Silence” is finally in and we are very excited. Any of you who love the outdoors will be thrilled with the attention to detail shown in this line. Fabrics include a panel, coordinating stripe and an array of supporting fabrics. (See a few in the new fabrics section of this newsletter.) For those with little ones, “Rainy Days” , a Noah’s Ark themed fabric, has 2 panels, a coordinating stripe, a book panel and many more. Kits are available from both of these lines for you.

Some great new books and patterns are also arriving. We couldn’t help ourselves when it came to the “Strip” series of patterns. There is “Strip Tease”, “Strip Poker” and “Strip Down”. For those of you who are into Jelly Roll quilts, you’ll want to check these out. Speaking of jelly rolls, we have heard many of you say that it is difficult to find jelly rolls that will match the patterns. We feel your pain and have come up with our own rendition of jelly rolls. Again, they will not specifically match a pattern but now available are packets of 20 light or dark strips. The fabrics vary from packet to packet and are all pre-cut into your 2 ½” strips. We have also received in a bolt of black and white from Marcus Brothers that is in strips. Each strip across the bolt is different. It can be cut lengthwise into individual strips or sub-cut with each fabric in the each strip.

In case any of you were interested in the Wrapped Bowl class, we know that was a busy weekend and have rescheduled the class to Thursday, November 20, 2008, 10:00am – 3:00pm. Information about the class is available on the website or you may contact the store.

This came to us from our friends at Blank Quilting:

When does a WIP become a UFO?

It starts out as a WHIMM (Work Hidden in My Mind).

After a FART (Fabric Acquisition Road Trip) and some SEX (Stash Enhancing eXperience), it becomes a PIG (Project In a Grocery Sack).

The PIG becomes a HSY (pronounced hissy…means Haven’t Started Yet).

Once you have a HSY-fit and begin work, it becomes a WIP (Work In Progress).

The WIP becomes a UFO (UnFulfilled Opportunity…I like that better than Unfinished Object which sounds so negative) as soon as some other project grabs and holds your attention more than the project that was a WIP.
